On-call text alerts.
Last updated 15 October 2026
What these are
CONES on-call alerts are text messages CONES Solutions sends to its own service technicians while they are on call outside business hours. When a customer leaves an after-hours voicemail, the technician on call gets a phone call and an email. The text goes alongside them, with the customer, the callback number and the time.
The technician replies 1 to take the call. If nobody takes it, the alert moves to the next technician on the on-call list.
These texts are never sent to customers and never carry marketing.
Which phones get them, and how a personal phone is added
CONES company phones. CONES owns the mobile phones it issues to its service technicians for work and is the account holder for every one of them, on its own Verizon business account. CONES authorizes the on-call texts to those lines itself, as the account holder, for whoever has the phone on on-call duty. A line stops getting them when it leaves CONES’s account.
Personal phones, only if the employee agrees. If an employee’s on-call number is their own phone, it is texted only after they opt in themselves, in the CONES Hub, the employee portal they sign in to with their CONES work account. Under My decisions, an item called On-call text alerts shows an unticked checkbox whose label is the disclosure below, and a Save button. The Hub stores the exact sentence they agreed to, with the date and time, and it covers that one number: if the number changes, they are asked again. Nobody can tick it for them.
The checkbox reads: I agree to receive CONES on-call alerts by text message from (563) 484-8770 on my personal mobile phone while I am on call. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help and STOP to stop. Terms: https://www.cones.com/oncall-alerts/ Privacy: https://www.cones.com/privacy/
This is a screenshot of the whole opt-in page in the Hub, which sits behind the employee sign-in, with the browser address bar showing hub.cones.com/my-decisions: www.cones.com/oncall-alerts/hub-opt-in-full.png. It is cropped to the address box and the page itself (the rest of the browser toolbar and the Hub’s navigation sidebar are cut off); the page content is unchanged.
A close-up of the same item: www.cones.com/oncall-alerts/hub-opt-in.png. Both screenshots were taken on 14 October 2026, when the box was worded for a company phone; the box now reads as quoted above.
For a personal phone it is optional. An employee who does not tick the box gets no texts on their own phone; the on-call phone call and email still reach them. Customer numbers are never texted.
The CONES employee handbook (On-Call Duty) says the same: On-call alerts. While you are on call, alerts about after-hours customer voicemails reach your phone by a phone call and an email. If your on-call phone is a CONES company phone, they also come as a text message from (563) 484-8770. If your on-call phone is your own, you can choose to get the texts too by agreeing to on-call text alerts in the Hub, under My decisions; if you do not, the call and the email still reach you. Press 1 on the call, or reply 1 to the text, to take the voicemail. How often these come depends on after-hours calls. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP to a text for help, or STOP to stop the texts.
Any of these phones can reply STOP at any time, as described below.
What the texts look like
CONES on-call: voicemail from Example Diner, Moline at 9:42 PM. Call back (309) 555-0142. Reply 1 to take it.
CONES on-call: nobody has taken the 9:42 PM voicemail from Example Diner. It is now with you. Call back (309) 555-0142. Reply 1 to take it.
CONES on-call: got it, Sam. You have the 9:42 PM call from Example Diner. The escalation has stopped.
The names and numbers above are examples.
How often
Only when a customer leaves an after-hours voicemail during the technician’s on-call duty. Message frequency varies: most nights none, a busy night a few. Message and data rates may apply.
Stopping them, and getting help
Reply STOP to any alert to stop them. We confirm once and send nothing more: CONES on-call alerts: you're unsubscribed and will get no more texts. You will still get the on-call phone call and email. Reply START to resubscribe.
Stopping texts does not take anyone off the on-call list. The on-call phone call and email continue. Reply START to turn texts back on; we confirm once: CONES on-call alerts: texts to your company phone about after-hours voicemails while you are on call. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.
Reply HELP for help: CONES on-call alerts: texts about after-hours customer voicemails while you are on call. Reply 1 to take a call. Questions: (800) 716-7070. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out.
